Digital Skills Training Opens Up Opportunities For The Youth

A group of young people from Busisa and Turbi villages in North Horr sub-county, Marsabit County have benefited from a digital skills training, bolstering their competitiveness in an increasingly technology-driven world. Organised by Juhudi Mashinani and supported by Leap Africa, the training saw young people learn artificial driven (Ai) content creation – designs – and monetisation of digital skills, among others. Facilitated by Ajira Digital Program, a government initiative enabling young Kenyans access to digital job opportunities, the training benefited 110 young people.

In addition, the young people were trained on climate change, how it affects them and their role in addressing the phenomenon (climate actions). They were challenge to use their acquired digital storytelling skills to create awareness on climate change as well as document its impact while also amplifying the voices of ordinary people affected by it. A thrilling sports tournament bringing diverse communities from Marsabit County was organising rallying the youth – the sportsmen – to be champions of peace in this region that, over the years, has suffered from inter-communal and clans’ conflicts. Four (4) teams benefited from balls and jerseys thanks to Leap Africa’s support.
